Job Summary

To achieve the company’s commitment to the health and safety of personnel, contract workers, and the general public, as well as to fulfill its environmental stewardship to the current generation and the generation to come, it is necessary to coordinate the health and safety operations that are carried out by ORC Fishing and Foods Ltd. and Master Marine Services Ltd.

Duties & Responsibilities for Senior Marine HSE Officer At TGI

  • Conduct frequent HSE inspections and audits of vessels and their components against local and international standards such as NIMASA, the ISM Code, and others to guarantee compliance with applicable rules.
  • Ensure that all vessels, equipment, and facilities meet safety requirements, operational standards, and environmental protection protocols.
  • Coordinate and carry out HSE training and programs for both crewmen and onshore personnel.
  • Create and maintain an emergency response plan for various circumstances to guarantee that management receives timely and effective remedial action and that emergencies do not arise.
  • Create, implement, and manage HSE policies and procedures tailored to the activities of ORC and Master-Marine Limited, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance, coaching, direction, and mentorship to employees regarding safety programs and necessary modifications.
  • Collaborate with the vessel captain and ground leaders to undertake an event (accident, near-miss, or risky occurrence) investigation to identify root causes and implement remedial actions/programs.
  • Establish and maintain a health, safety, and environmental management system for contractors.
  • Any additional responsibilities delegated by the Group HSE Manager.

Requirements for Senior Marine HSE Officer At TGI

Education/Knowledge, Skills, Attributes, Experience & Other Requirements:

  • BSc in marine engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety, or a similar discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Marine HSE Officer or in a related capacity in the marine industry, preferably in commercial fishing.
  • In-depth understanding of marine safety legislation, international standards (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL), and environmental practices.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify risks and devise practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
  • Certification in HSE management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) and acquaintance with the ISM Code and ISO 14001 standards are beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel and work offshore as needed.
  • The BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training Course) certificate is mandatory.
