Polytechnic Librarian at Auchi Polytechnic
Job Description
- The Polytechnic Librarian serves as the Chief Library Officer and is responsible to the Rector for the administration of the Polytechnic Library as well as the coordination of library services in the Polytechnic’s teaching units.
- He/she is one of the polytechnic’s principal officers. In addition to established experience in library management and leadership, the selected candidate must demonstrate a genuine interest in academic pursuits and be credible.
Academic Qualifications and Qualities
The candidate for the position must have the following qualifications and qualities:
- A Master’s Degree from a recognized university in Library Science or Library and Information Science is required, with a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) being an added advantage.
- Obtain a second-class lower division degree or a Lower Credit in Higher National Diploma (HND) in Library Science or Library and Information Science from a recognized institution;
- A minimum of eighteen (18) years of cognate experience in post-secondary institutions, with at least ten (10) years obtained in a Polytechnic or similar TVET institution;
- Currently holding the position of Chief Librarian in the Polytechnic sector for at least five (5) years;
- Demonstrate strong academic and administrative leadership, initiative, and originality in library policy design, good human relations, and favorable managerial characteristics;
- Provide evidence of membership in professional bodies in libraries recognized by the federal government;
- Provide proof of scholarly publications in respectable journals, as well as presentations of invited papers at educational/library conferences, seminars, and workshops;
- Individual who is unlikely to pursue racial, gender, political, religious, or other sectoral interests;
- Morally sound, of excellent character, demonstrated integrity, and devoid of financial embarrassment;
- Physically and psychologically fit (with proof from a government hospital); and xi. Knowledgeable in information and communication technology (ICT).
- Not older than 59 years old as of January 30, 2025 (the date the position becomes vacant).
Terms of Appointment and Conditions of Service
- The appointments are for a single term of five (5) years, in accordance with the existing laws.
- The salary is consolidated, and the appointees will receive any extra perks associated with the office of Principal Officer of the Polytechnic as approved by the Federal Government.
Bursar at Auchi Polytechnic
Job Description
- The Bursar is the Polytechnic’s Chief Financial Officer. He or she is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration and control of the Polytechnic’s financial issues.
- He/she is one of the polytechnic’s principal officers. He/she leads the Bursary department and is in charge of the Polytechnic’s finances.
Qualifications and Experience
The candidate for the position must have the following qualifications and qualities:
- A First Degree with at least a second class lower division or a Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a lower credit in accounting or finance-related subjects from a recognized institution of higher learning;
- Have a minimum of eighteen (18) years post-qualification cognate experience for first degree and HND holders, or a Master’s degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of fifteen (15) years post-qualification cognate experience, or a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in relevant discipline with a minimum of twelve (12) years post-qualification cognate experience, at least ten (10) years of which must have been gained in a Polytechnic or similar TVET institution.
- Register with ICAN or ANAN.
- Currently on the rank one level below the Bursar (i.e., Chief Accountant, Deputy Bursar, or Deputy Director, Audit as the case may be) for a period of NOT less than five (5) years in a Polytechnic or comparable TVET institution.
- Proficient in information and communication technology (ICT) and accounting packages;
- Not more than fifty-nine (59) years old as of December 18, 2024 (the date the position will become vacant);
- Demonstrate excellent financial and administrative leadership, initiative and originality in financial policy creation, good human relations, and positive managerial characteristics;
- Knowledgeable about the Polytechnic system’s financial rules and regulations;
- To be considered for a position, applicants must meet the following criteria: membership in a professional body, lack of racial, gender, political, or religious bias, moral integrity, and physical and mental fitness (as verified by a government hospital).
