About Federal Medical Centre Owo
The Federal Medical Centre Owo, often known as FMC Owo, is a public healthcare institution that can be found in Owo, which is located in Ondo State, Nigeria.
FMC Owo serves the people of Ondo State and provides services to the people of adjacent states such as Kogi, Edo, and Osun.
FMC Owo is the sole federal tertiary health center and referral hospital in its state.
In 1993, the Federal Medical Center in Nigeria was established as one of the pioneering medical facilities in the country.
In the beginning, it was a hospital that had 150 beds and covered a land area of 58.5 hectares.
In the late 1990s, it was given the status of a federal tertiary health institution with 300 beds.
The hospital has 22 clinical departments and 8 non-clinical offices, with a total staff of 1,441. The hospital is also approved to offer resident training in ophthalmology, Community Health, Family Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Radiology, General Surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
These departments have turned out experts who were fully trained at this hospital. In the same way, the hospital teaches students from Achievers University, Owo’s Microbiology and Nursing departments. Achievers University is a privately owned school.
Roles/Duties and Obligations of Director Of Administration
- The Director of Administration reports to the Medical Director on the day-to-day general administration of the hospital.
- He or she will serve as the Medical Director’s Chief Administrative Adviser as well as the Board of Management Secretary.
Additionally, the Director of Administration shall:
- Take leadership of the Department Responsible for Administration.
- Participate in the creation, implementation, and revision of policies as directed by the Medical Director and the Board.
- Coordinate the work of support departments in the hospital.
- Conduct the Board’s correspondence and manage the hospital’s records.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Board or the Medical Director from time to time.
Requirements for Director Of Administration At Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owo
- The candidate must have an excellent first degree in either Hospital/Health Services Management, Humanities, or Social Sciences from a recognized university or equivalent.
- The candidate must have at least twenty (20) years of post-qualification job experience in a government establishment.
- The candidate must be a member of the Directorate Cadre in a government establishment.
- A Master’s degree or other related higher education degree would be advantageous.
- A fellowship or associateship with the Institute of Health Services Administration of Nigeria (IHSAN) or any other related professional degree is advantageous.
- Candidate must be ICT-compliant.
- Working experience in a hospital is beneficial (when applicable).
Tenure
The Director of Administration shall hold office effective from the date of appointment, inclusive of any prior service as a Director in any other organization in the Public Service, provided the Officer does not reach the mandatory age of sixty (60) years or thirty-five (35) years of service (whichever comes first), and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
Salary and Conditions of Service
The salary and working conditions for this category of Officer must be in compliance with the Public Service Salary Structure.
