Job Purpose

The Senior Civil/Structural Asset Engineer is a HSE‑critical technical role responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and safe performance of all civil and structural assets across Renaissance production facilities. The role oversees integrity assessments, defect management, civil maintenance execution, and engineering design support, ensuring compliance with technical, operational, and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong civil/structural engineering design capability, proven asset integrity experience, and solid understanding of risk management in oil and gas environments. The position requires excellent leadership, communication, coordination, and negotiation skills to interface effectively with multidisciplinary teams and contractors.

Responsibilities

Technical & Integrity Management

•                    Provide strong HSSE leadership during civil/structural engineering, inspection, and maintenance activities.

•                    Lead structural integrity assessments including condition surveys, defect investigations, load evaluation, and life‑extension studies.

•                    Conduct or review Technical Integrity Verifications (TIVs) and hardware barrier assessments for Civil Safety Critical Equipment (SCE).

•                    Apply risk‑based methodologies to identify, evaluate, and mitigate structural integrity threats in oil & gas facilities.

•                    Interpret inspection data and translate findings into practical engineering solutions and long‑term integrity plans.

Design & Engineering Assurance

•                    Provide technical assurance for brownfield modifications, including review of structural designs, calculations, and drawings for compliance with codes and standards.

•                    Prepare engineering work scopes, specifications, and cost estimates for civil/structural repairs and maintenance projects.

•                    Ensure compliance with relevant design and integrity standards (API, AISC, BS, Eurocodes, ISO, etc.).

Maintenance Planning & Project Execution

•                    Implement Civil Reliability‑Centered Maintenance (RCM), maintain the Civil Asset Register, and ensure accurate SAP maintenance data.

•                    Lead and coordinate contractors in executing minor civil/structural maintenance projects, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery.

•                    Support integrity assurance processes including HAZID, MOC, and facility audits.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

•                    Engage effectively with Operations, Projects, HSSE, technical teams, and external contractors.

•                    Provide clear technical communication, engineering justification, and recommendations during reviews and meetings.

•                    Demonstrate strong negotiation skills to align internal stakeholders and manage contractor performance.

Strategic Scope

This role strengthens Renaissance’s structural integrity management capability by implementing reliable assessment methods, maintaining Civil SCE compliance, and enabling risk‑based decision-making that enhances operational safety and asset longevity. It supports the broader goal of achieving safe, efficient, and sustainable production operations across Renaissance facilities.

Portfolio Size and Complexity

The role supports all Renaissance assets across East, West 1, and West 2 facilities, covering land, swamp, and offshore civil structures and infrastructure, including:

•                    Foundations, culverts, pipe racks, platforms, buildings, and retaining structures

•                    Concrete structures, steel frames, walkways, and jetty structures

•                    Tanks, bund walls, pavements, access roads, bridges, and other Civil Safety Critical Elements (SCEs)

The engineer leads and coordinates contractors, vendors, and inspection agencies under time‑sensitive operational conditions, requiring strong technical judgment, effective communication, and decisive leadership.

Requirements

•        Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

•        COREN‑registered engineer (mandatory)

•        Member of Nigerian society of engineers (NSE)

•        Minimum 10 years civil/structural engineering experience in oil & gas or heavy industrial sectors

•        Strong civil/structural design background (analysis, calculations, codes, brownfield designs)

•        Proven asset integrity experience (inspections, structural assessments, degradation analysis, remediation, life‑extension studies)

•        Project management experience

•        Experience leading multidisciplinary technical activities and supervising contractors

Skills & Competencies

Technical

•                    Strong knowledge of oil & gas structural risk management principles

•                    Deep understanding of Civil SCEs, performance standards, and integrity management systems

•                    Ability to evaluate degradation mechanisms and recommend practical repair strategies

•                    Proficiency with structural analysis tools

Leadership & Interpersonal

•                    Strong communication and presentation skills

•                    Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation ability

•                    Demonstrated leadership in coordinating engineering, inspection, and execution activities

•                    High initiative, sound engineering judgment, and strong problem‑solving capability

•                    Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment
