About Food Concepts Plc

Food Concepts Plc was founded on December 6, 1999, as Food Concepts & Entertainment Limited, and began operations in 2000. In a Special Resolution dated May 10, 2009, the firm was converted from a Private Limited Liability firm to a Public Limited Liability Company, and its name was changed to Food Concepts Plc.

Upon its establishment, Food Concepts won important franchises from renowned South African Quick Service Restaurant operators, providing them the responsibility to manage and run these brands within Nigeria. Over time, the company expanded its portfolio by acquiring the Butterfield brand and creating and fostering other brands like Chicken Republic, PieXpress, Yum Yum, and The Chop Box.

Job Description

To ensure the company conducts its business in full compliance with all national and international laws and regulations that relate to the Quick Service Restaurant sector, as well as professional standards, accepted business practices, and internal standards.

Core Responsibilities and Key Result Areas

Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure that all corporate products conform with applicable federal and state regulations, as well as any regions where they are sold.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret technical data, and accurately translate it into official regulatory submissions.
  • Perform OSC in all CR stores and PX kiosks.
  • Liaise with the SEC and other regulatory organizations.
  • Provide specialized advise on fundamental regulatory compliance issues, with the goal of keeping the company’s products and services within the quality control circle.
  • Maintain awareness of changing requirements for the company’s products and aid in the proper registration of components.
  • Investigate and document any complaints that arise as a result of noncompliance with regulations, and take steps to prevent them from happening again.
  • Research, implement, and administer the areas of rules and laws, and food regulations, policies and processes, consumer protection, and public interest laws.
  • Work closely with the head of risk and compliance to supervise compliance procedures.
  • Address employees’ concerns or inquiries about legal compliance.
  • Consult with department leaders to establish the sort of service being provided and the level of compliance required.

  • Rate of compliance with applicable regulations
  • Achievement of sensitization on changing/evolving regulations on company products

Knowledge Requirements

  • Knowledge of legislations, its changes and developments as they affect the Food Industry,
  • Knowledge of Fundamentals of Accounting
  • Knowledge of Risk & Compliance standards or processes
  • Knowledge of legal standards and in-house policies
  • Knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping
  • Knowledge of the QSR/Food Industry practices

Job Specifications for Compliance Associate at Food Concepts Plc

Educational Requirements 

  • A good first degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration or related areas.
  • Possession of a Master’s degree in Business Administration or related degree is an added advantage

 Professional Requirements

  • Membership of ICAN, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or any other related professional qualification is required.
  • Certifications in compliance will also be added advantage

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-6 years’ experience in a similar role, especially in the QSR/FMCG sector

  • Plans own work schedule and work schedule of subordinates
  • Address employee concerns or questions on legal compliance
  • Provide specialist advice on core matters concerning regulatory compliance

Working Conditions

Jobholder normally work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, although there may involve weekend or late work. This role is primarily office and field-based, though the individual may be required to travel to off-site meetings on occasion due to the company’s multiple offices.

The jobholder is a professional with high ethical standards who works diligently to complete his or her duties while keeping the business’s objectives in mind.
