Job Description
The Dangote Group Apapa is now looking for a Clearing Officer who can effectively manage import and export operations from pre-shipment to consignment delivery.
The ideal applicant should have strong multitasking abilities and be able to handle many jobs efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities Export Clearing Officer
- Create the necessary documentation for shipping and clearing materials for DCP.
- Create and submit all the necessary documents to the appropriate agencies, and keep/file copies as needed.
- Coordinate with appropriate government agencies and clearance agents to expedite the clearance of all goods.
- Manage DCP’s relationships with appropriate regulatory bodies and escalate difficulties to the Logistics Manager.
- Ensure that all claims and notices from regulatory bodies are handled properly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information about logistics activity.
- Create periodic customs reports and identify difficulties for the Logistics Manager.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Logistics Manager.
- Implement authorized improvements for the logistics function.
Export Clearing Officer At Dangote Group Apapa Requirements
- A solid university degree plus a diploma in Port Operations Management.
- 5-9 years of experience in a local clearing and forwarding firm.
- Proficiency with international documentation, LC, shipping procedures, and bills of lading.
- Practical experience working with customs brokers, forwarders, and foreign partners.
- Must have operational understanding of ports and government entities.
- Must be familiar with correct import clearing and haulage documentation.
- Must be familiar with inspection agents, banks, shipping businesses, and terminals.
- Must be able to handle customs and shipping businesses for imports, temporary importation, and exports.
- Must be familiar with the Customs and Excise HS Code and Explanatory Notes.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of prioritizing work.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Word)
