About Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is a Para-military institution and the Lead Agency for road traffic administration and traffic management in Nigeria.
The Corps is tasked to reduce road accidents, enforce traffic laws, promote road safety education and respond to crises nationally.
Role Overview / Job Details
The Route Commander (RC) is a senior operational role within the FRSC’s officer cadre, representing the third level of the officer career progression framework.
Key responsibilities
- Operational Command: Full command responsibility for assigned routes, managing teams and ensuring effective road safety operations
- Traffic Management: Enforce road traffic regulations and ensure highway safety across Nigeria
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate road safety personnel under your command
- Emergency Response: Coordinate emergency response operations within your area of responsibility
- Strategic Enforcement: Plan and execute strategic traffic enforcement activities
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Qualification
Applicants must possess a First Degree in any of the following disciplines from recognised institutions of learning:
- B.Pharm (Pharmacy)
- B.Sc Degree in Nursing
- BMLS (Medical Laboratory Science)
- LLB/BL (Law – must have been called to the Nigerian Bar)
- B.Eng/B.Tech in Engineering courses
Additionally, applicants must present a NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Age Requirement
- Applicants must not be less than 18 or more than 35 years of age
General Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be Nigerian by birth
- Be computer literate
- Possess current practising licences where applicable for Medical and allied professional disciplines; lawyers must have been called to the Nigerian Bar
- Be of good character, free from financial indebtedness, and must not have been convicted of any criminal offence
- Be single
- Be medically fit and present a certificate of Medical Fitness issued by an approved government hospital
- Have a minimum height of 1.65 metres for males and 1.58 metres for females
- Ensure that all certificates and qualifications are declared and presented at the point of recruitment; undeclared qualifications will not be accepted for future career progression
- Must not have tattoos on any part of his/her body
- Use personal email address and phone number when submitting applications
Additional Advantage
- Possession of a valid National Driver’s Licence will be an added advantage

Salary Structure
The Route Commander position falls under CONPASS 10 salary grade. Estimated annual salary ranges from ₦1,200,000 to ₦1,600,000 (approximately ₦100,000 to ₦133,333 per month).
