Requirements for GIS Analyst at Husk Power Systems

  • Support all GIS/site scoping operations in Nigeria (and other possible markets).
  • Interact on a regular basis with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to identify and select sites.
  • Support the optimization of various Husk NG activities to ensure that best practices are implemented for more efficient procedures.
  • Understand the country’s operational priorities and provide help to the Country team as needed.
  • Provide the necessary support and advice for developing and aligning various company procedures and policies with global best practices.
  • Other duties may be allocated from time to time.

Site Identification and Deployment

  • Assist in formulating the site selection criteria for HMG locations, including feedback from key team members.
  • Support work planning and execution of all GIS/site identification duties.
  • Support the development and implementation of a country-level geospatial analysis and GIS modelling strategy to create pipelines of potential communities/locations.
  • Use data visualization/analysis tools, such as customized dashboards, for site mapping.
  • Help appropriate teams develop mobile data collecting apps for use during field surveys and enumeration activities.
  • Support the administration of survey data gathering and the use of relevant data sets for site scoping activities.
  • Support the creation of load profiles from collected data to feed into system sizing efforts.
  • Combine location-based analytics with cutting-edge spatial intelligence, business intelligence, and statistical and predictive analytics tools to develop one-of-a-kind analytical solutions and insights that help with both strategic and operational decision-making.

Business Growth and Support

  • Ensure that other Business Units are aligned with GIS, site selection, and land survey responsibilities.
  • Work with relevant Business Units to verify compliance with land leases, building permits, and other land documentation.
  • Support business growth and ongoing cost and quality improvements.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals, technical inputs, bill of materials, budgets, and technical drawings for proposal submission.
  • Coordinate, communicate regularly, and build strong and productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including regulatory stakeholders and customer/client groups.
  • Provide communication channels for discussions with all key stakeholders throughout site selection/land survey and other associated activities.

  • Must be capable of active listening, speaking, reading, comprehension, critical thinking, performance monitoring, time management, people management, material resource management, effective time management, judgment and decision making, teaching, coaching, and social awareness.
  • A minimum of three years of work experience is required, including two years in a similar role in the energy/infrastructure/development sector.
  • Graduate from a prestigious university with a degree in GIS/Surveying and other related fields. A postgraduate degree and/or associated professional qualifications would be advantageous.
  • This position necessitates a thorough understanding of GIS/Survey capabilities, critical thinking, and the ability to give timely solutions for the benefit of the firm. 
  • Excellent expertise in QGIS or ArcGIS, Google Earth, Microsoft Office products, and project management tools (MS Project, Power BI, etc.).
