Developed by Afreximbank in collaboration with King’s College Hospital London (KCH), the multi-specialty African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE Abuja) intends to transform healthcare in Africa. 

In response to pressing needs, the AMCE Abuja was founded with a mission to provide first-rate medical treatment by means of cutting-edge study, training, and instruction. 

Global knowledge, top-notch clinical training, research, and professional growth are all guaranteed by the connection with King’s College Hospital. 

With future development in mind, the Centre will provide comprehensive oncology, haematology, cardiology, and general healthcare services across the continent. 

With the help of international collaborators, we will build a 500-bed hospital that will be gradually opened over the course of six years.

Job Purpose

The ICT Manager, Clinical and ERP Applications will be in charge of administering the organisation’s clinical application systems, maintaining smooth system functionality, and implementing clinical systems that are in line with the AMCE’s needs, objectives, and requirements. He or she will also be in charge of managing the Clinical Applications team, assessing their performance, and ensuring that the workload is distributed optimally for service delivery.

Leadership

  • To guarantee that every opportunity to enhance the delivery of clinical systems is taken advantage of, it is imperative to initiate the required planning and development processes.
  • Develop, direct, and provide assistance to members of the Clinical Systems team in order to guarantee that the best practices are constantly adhered to, which will ultimately result in the delivery of services that are more effective.
  • Assume the responsibility of leading the organization’s investigation and resolution of complex service problems or faults referring to Clinical Systems.
  • Take the necessary precautions to ensure that all Clinical Systems have recovery procedures in place in the event that any unplanned system failures occur.
  • Make sure that a timetable is in place for any normal system work that has to be done in order to keep the systems running well and to ensure that this will not interfere with the delivery of services being provided.

Strategic Development

  • Review and maintain current rules, standards, and standard operating procedures governing the usage of Clinical Systems within the organization.
  • Maintain and update clinical systems to ensure that users receive a highly available service.
  • Ensure that all new clinical systems that will be introduced are examined, and that the organization’s clinical system rules, guidelines, and standard operating procedures are up to date.
  • Maintain and update clinical systems to provide users with a highly available service.
  • Plan and implement improvements to the existing system service, as well as look into ways to improve its delivery.
  • To ensure that all new clinical systems that will be introduced have undergone thorough testing, risk management analysis, and other forms of testing to ensure their suitability for purpose.

  • Provide technical and professional experience in Clinical Application systems, ensuring that they have undergone rigorous testing, risk management analysis, and other forms of testing to guarantee their suitability for their intended purpose.
  • Ensure that service delivery is effectively monitored.
  • Investigate complex systems and technologies, as well as identify and resolve faults, to guarantee that corporate activities run smoothly.
  • Provide technical and professional expertise of the clinical application systems being used.

Governance

  • Ensure that all Clinical Application systems have effective licensing and meet all applicable legal criteria.
  • Ensure that system operations meet all applicable legal requirements.
  • Assume responsibility for ensuring that Clinical Application systems workers have met the necessary requirements to operate with the systems.
  • Ensure that Clinical Application Systems-related policies are current and in accordance with national policy, standards, and advice.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide a cost-effective service while demonstrating expert knowledge and superior standards of Clinical Application systems within the enterprise.
  • Provide updates on the Clinical Systems Application in meetings with various levels of stakeholders.
  • Allocate resources and financial budgets while ensuring that they are consistent with Clinical Application Systems’ strategic plan.
  • As the Equality and Diversity lead in the Clinical Application mechanisms department, ensure that a strategy, set of policies, procedures, and monitoring and control mechanisms are developed and implemented effectively.
  • Work with HR on team recruiting, retention, performance management, and development.
  • Collaborate with the Recruitment Manager to interact with local, foreign, and online communities in order to build a talent pipeline to support the company’s expansion.
  • Responsible for developing high-potential personnel through a disciplined strategy to mentoring and growing critical talent at all levels of management.
  • Coordinate and facilitate stakeholder meetings to identify business and system needs, ensuring improvements and any necessary system implementations to assist the organization in meeting its objectives.
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization and set an example as a proactive senior leader and change agent who earns respect by displaying a thorough understanding of the objectives and goals.
  • Collaborate with the organization as a whole to ensure that the Clinical Applications are effectively integrated with systems used by other departments, with the goal of improving clinical workflow throughout the organization.
  • Develop and maintain Clinical Application Systems people that have the necessary combination of business knowledge and technical abilities to meet strategic goals and guarantee the department’s core tasks are dependable, stable, and efficient.
  • Provide excellent leadership to develop, coach, and ensure the team’s high performance.
  • Ensure that personnel participate in mandated training and refresher courses as required by law.
  • Participates in and supervises clinical application procedures and informational staff training.
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to do a horizon scan for new nursing technologies or sector-specific enhancements.
  • Provide the company with solutions and services that will maintain and extend its competitive advantage in the industry.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline.

Experience Requirements

  • Extensive experience implementing and managing clinical systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in hospital clinical workflows and experience leading a team of system technicians to meet business objectives.
