About Nigerian Institution of Professional Engineers and Scientists (NIPES)
The National Institute of Professional Engineers and Scientists (NIPES) is a distinguished research institution that brings together leading specialists in engineering and science.
Founded on June 20, 2019, as The Nigerian Institution of Professional Engineers and Scientists, the organization was formed under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), Cap. C20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, on November 13, 2021.
Building on this foundation, NIPES established its international footprint by incorporating on December 13, 2024, with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Corporate Division, United States of America, marking a significant milestone in its global development.
Eligibility for NIPES Engineering and Science Scholarship 2025
Every student that is applying for the N200,000 NIPES Engineering and Science Scholarship must ensure he/she meets up with the following criteria:
- You must be currently enrolled in a recognized higher education institution.
- Taking science or engineering-related classes.
- Open to students at the 100-level and above.
- Mandatory: Applicants must finish at least one free NIPES online course and discuss their learnings in the personal statement.
Priority Consideration:
NIPES student members will be given priority in the selection process. Non-members are encouraged to join NIPES to enhance their chances of selection.
How to Complete the Free NIPES Course:
As part of the application process, you must enroll in and complete one of NIPES’ free online courses. These courses are aimed to help students build practical engineering and science abilities. After finishing the course, you will receive a certificate of completion, which you must include in your personal statement.
Application Process:
You will have to follow the three stages involved in the application process:
- Register on the NIPES website as a student member (for non-members) here
- Complete a free NIPES online course of your choice here.
- Submit your personal statement (500-750 words), explaining the skills you learned from the course and how they apply to your academic or career goals here. NB. Provide proof of enrollment and student ID and Include your NIPES membership number (if applicable).
How to Write Personal Statement:
To write a very good personal statement, kindly ensure that it covers all the below requirements:
- Your background and educational journey.
- Your passion for engineering/science.
- Academic and extracurricular achievements.
- Challenges you’ve overcome.
- Career goals and alignment with NIPES’s mission.
- Skills gained from the NIPES course: Describe the skills you learned from the free NIPES course and how they contribute to your academic or career development.
Selection Criteria for the NIPES Engineering and Science Scholarship 2025:
Candidates will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- NIPES student membership status.
- Quality and content of the personal statement.
- Demonstrated passion for engineering/science.
- Completion of a NIPES course and explanation of learned skills.
- Alignment with NIPES values and mission.
Additional Information:
- Successful applicants will be expected to take part in NIPES activities and mentoring initiatives.
- The scholarship is a one-time award for the academic year 2024/2025.
- Non-members accepted for the scholarship will receive a free one-year NIPES student membership.
