Job Summary
Obek Group is looking for an experienced and detail oriented QA/QC Engineer / QA/QC Coordinator to establish, implement and maintain Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems on all of its engineering and construction projects.
The successful candidate will ensure that engineering procurement fabrication construction installation and commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with client specifications contractual commitments relevant industry standards and the company’s Quality Management System and will be responsible for delivering defect free projects and pushing forward continuous quality improvement initiatives
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards, client quality requirements, and applicable engineering codes.
- Develop and maintain Project Quality Plans (PQP), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality procedures, and method statements.
- Coordinate quality activities throughout engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Monitor quality performance and recommend improvement initiatives.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct internal quality audits and support external and client audits.
- Review contractor and supplier quality documentation.
- Ensure effective document control and revision management.
- Review engineering drawings, project specifications, technical documents, and procedures for compliance.
- Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Quality Control and Inspection
- Coordinate inspections with third party inspectors and client representatives.
- Verify compliance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Supervise inspections covering incoming materials, fabrication, welding, coating, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Witness pressure tests, hydrotests, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and commissioning activities where required.
- Ensure measuring and testing equipment remain properly calibrated.
Non Conformance Management
- Raise, investigate, and monitor Non Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Coordinate root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Verify corrective action effectiveness before NCR closure.
- Monitor recurring quality issues and recommend preventive measures.
Vendor and Supplier Quality
- Evaluate supplier quality documentation and inspection records.
- Participate in vendor inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Ensure compliance with material traceability and certification requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance against contractual quality standards.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain inspection reports, weld maps, material certificates, quality dossiers, and test reports.
- Compile Mechanical Completion Packages (MCPs), turnover documentation, and final quality records.
- Ensure quality documentation is complete, accurate, and easily retrievable.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
Continuous Improvement
- Mentor junior inspectors and quality personnel.
- Promote a strong culture of quality across project teams.
- Support Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives where applicable.
- Participate in lessons learned and quality improvement reviews.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess any of the following qualifications:
- B.Eng., B.Sc., or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification is an added advantage.
- ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certification is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), CSWIP, NACE, BGAS, or other discipline specific certifications will be an added advantage depending on project requirements.
Experience Requirements
QA/QC Coordinator
- Minimum of 3 years relevant quality assurance and quality control experience in EPC, oil and gas, construction, manufacturing, or industrial projects.
QA/QC Engineer
- Minimum of 5 years relevant QA/QC experience with responsibilities covering quality planning, inspection coordination, and client engagement.
Experience in fabrication, piping, structural steel, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, electrical and instrumentation systems, or commissioning activities will be an advantage.
Required Technical Skills
Applicants should possess knowledge of:
- ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)

- Welding inspection and quality control
- Material inspection and traceability
- Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation inspection
- Vendor quality surveillance
- Pressure testing and commissioning inspection
- Engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and specifications
- Root cause analysis techniques such as 5 Why and Fishbone
- Non Conformance Report (NCR) management
- Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) management
- Quality auditing
- Document control and quality dossier preparation
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Quality management software
