About the 2025 World Trade Organization WTO Internship Program
The WTO offers three internship opportunities.
(1) The WTO Internship Programme is open to post-graduate students from all WTO members, as well as countries or customs territories negotiating accession;
(2) the China LDC and Accessions Programme (also known as the China WTO Accession Internship Programme); and (3) the WTO Support Programme for Doctoral Studies. Both (2) and
(3) are restricted to postgraduate students from developing and least developed countries (LDCs).
The internship programmes aim to expand the WTO’s diversity.
The WTO Internship Programme allows post-graduate students from WTO member and observer nations to obtain important experience while working at the WTO.
General assignments
Interns are given assignments that are meant to improve their understanding of the WTO and trade policy in general. Internships do, however, offer chances in a variety of fields, including finance, human resources, language services, information technology, and communications.
The division to which the intern is allocated determines the specific nature of the task to be completed. Several interns work in the following fields:
- Trade law
- Economics
- Statistics
- Trade policy
- Languages
- Administration (procurement, finance, human resources)
- Information, communication and external relations
- Information management Â
Duration
The duration for the 2025 World Trade Organization WTO Internship Program
is f six months.
Remuneration
Interns are paid CHF 60 per day (including weekends and official holidays within the specified time period). The WTO cannot pay for travel expenditures to and from Geneva, and such travel is not covered by the organization’s insurance.
Medical health insurance coverage is required in Switzerland, and interns must arrange for their own health insurance prior to beginning their internship at the WTO.
Eligibility for 2025 World Trade Organization WTO Internship Program
To be considered eligible for the WTO internship program, you must:
- be a national of a WTO member state or a country or customs territory engaged in accession negotiations
- have completed his/her undergraduate studies in a relevant discipline and have completed at least one year of his/her postgraduate studies
- be at least 21 years old and a maximum of 30 years old during the internship.
How to Apply for 2025 World Trade Organization WTO Internship Program
Candidates should submit their applications using the WTO’s external jobs platform but clicking on the link below:
- Only those selected for interviews will be notified.Â
- The system gives guidance for the online application process. A list of suitable candidates is kept, from which interns are chosen. Suitable applications are kept on the roster for a year.
