Job Responsibilities for Mobile Architect (POS Terminal) at Moniepoint
- Lead the design and architecture of POS terminal solutions, guaranteeing security, scalability, performance, and compatibility with diverse hardware and payment methods.
- Create and maintain architectural papers and diagrams for POS terminal systems, ensuring that all platforms are thoroughly documented and up to date.
- Make architectural decisions for POS terminal software, including integrating different payment technologies, EMV standards, and guaranteeing hardware compatibility.
- Lead the development of POS applications.
- Improve system performance and security, especially for payment processing and EMV protocols.
- Participate in planning sessions with the product and engineering teams to ensure that solutions match market requirements and corporate objectives.
- Conduct code reviews and follow best practices for mobile and embedded system development, particularly Android Native development.
- Define and enforce software engineering best practices throughout the POS and related teams to increase efficiency and developer productivity.
- Maintain the stability and dependability of POS terminal devices and apps by monitoring system performance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Provide technical mentorship to engineering teams to assist them develop their abilities and contribute to the overall technical vision.
- Participate in the hiring process, screening engineers with experience in POS, mobile, and embedded programming.
Job Requirements
- At least 5 years of expertise with system design, architecture, and development, preferably in the POS terminal sector.
- Strong experience in Android Native development (Java/Kotlin) and a thorough understanding of Android-based POS terminal solutions.
- Experience with cross-platform mobile development, such as Flutter, and experience with other POS application platforms (e.g., C, JavaScript) is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of EMV (Europay, MasterCard, and Visa) security procedures, including chip-based transactions, encryption, and key management.
- Experience integrating POS hardware, including card readers, pin pads, printers, and other peripherals.
- A thorough understanding of payment system architecture, including integration with payment processors and gateways.
- Knowledge of software quality assurance principles and how they apply in financial systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage complex system interconnections and adapt to changing requirements.
- Strong communication abilities, including the ability to clearly convey difficult technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership skills, with an emphasis on mentoring engineers and pushing process improvements within the team.
