Job Description
- Collect and evaluate industry data to benchmark best practices and process performance.
- Ensure process compliance from POL to POD in import procedures.Â
- Work with the Finance and Commercial teams to provide excellent client service.
- Manage client contact to ensure that the business connection remains harmonious.
- Maintain communication with internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless process flow.Â
- Prior to distribution, verify the original bills of lading and accompanying papers. Examine customs and other documentation presented throughout the import process.
- Proactively handle any difficulties that may develop throughout the import process that would negatively impact the customers.
- Address any current import concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Coordinate, supervise, and coach the team to offer exceptional service.
- Ensure a consistent process evaluation and improvement as needed.
- Attend petitions, inquiries, and/or invitations from various authorities, including the Nigerian Customs Service, the Nigerian Police Force, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and others.
- Represent the group at stakeholder meetings with the Nigerian Customs Service to discuss importation procedures and regulations, as well as unclaimed containers at the port.Â
Requirements for Import Manager at ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Limited
- First degree in maritime, shipping, or similar areas.
- Between 8 and 10 years of prior experience in a similar function.
- Excellent relationship management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in written and spoken English, as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Web-based, and email programs).
