Job Role:
The major responsibility of the Reliability & Engineering Performance Engineer is to help ensure that risk-based reliability methods are used in decision-making to improve the technical and commercial health of power generation assets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities for Reliability & Engineering Performance Engineer
- Â Participate in the assessment and management of risks.
- Â Participate in developing and implementing risk management processes and procedures.
- Â Assist in identifying and assessing risks associated with power generation activities.
- Â Identify areas for improvement in working processes and procedures.
- Â Track the progress and impact of improvement efforts.
- Â Plan and carry out improvements to the quality of AM processes.
- Â Evaluate the efficacy of process improvements.
- Compare asset condition and performance to AM strategy and objectives.
- Â Evaluate the progress, impact, and efficacy of asset performance corrective actions.
- Â Determine the lessons learned and alter policies and processes accordingly.
- Â Identify and monitor all applicable legal, regulatory, and technical requirements for the plant’s safe operation.
- Â Create effective policies and procedures to ensure all requirements are satisfied.
- Â Assess and assist the implementation of policies and procedures.
- Â Determine the underlying cause of asset or system breakdowns or events.
- Â Make good use of the ‘lessons learned’ information from incidents.
- Â Create overview reports on risk/opportunity status for management, then execute and maintain risk management programs in accordance with the Company’s risk management requirements.
- Protecting the facility’s earning capacity and asset by exposing potential implications on plant performance.
- Â Conduct independent research reviews, investigations, and analysis to support risk management programs and programmes.
- Â Use risk management techniques and processes to assess engineering risks in existing infrastructure.
- Â Evaluate the risk of core damage and/or loss of primary containment integrity caused by equipment failures, human error, and/or natural disasters such as flooding, fires, and other environmental impacts.
- Â Conduct analysis on process risk reduction, new technology adoption, and human factors.
- Â Create and implement a comprehensive technical risk management plan that anticipates both reliability-related and non-reliability-related safety issues that could jeopardize personnel or plant operations.
- Highlight potential technical solutions to repeated failures as well as any other equipment issues related to capacity, quality, safety, or regulatory compliance that have a negative impact on operations.
- Create and maintain a database of technical risk assessments to aid risk management planning and strategic decision-making.
- Develop and assess the impact of technical human capital risk factors such as plant knowledge, manpower risk, and training gap risk, and put in place a procedure for frequent status checks.
- Conduct a failure mode, effect, and criticality analysis (FMECA).
- Assess the reliability of alternative engineering concepts and solutions.
Data Privacy and Protection:
- Implement Egbin Power Plc data protection policies and practices.
- Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws and policies.
- Conduct a Data Protection Impact Assessment as needed to reduce the risk during data processing processes.
QHSE
- Ensure awareness, comprehension, and application of QHSE policy, as well as the implementation of departmental objectives.
- Ensure that everyone is aware of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, and 45001:2018) and the consequences of failing to comply with the requirements.
- Understand and identify hazards, risks, environmental issues, and impacts as they pertain to their professions.
Requirements for Reliability & Engineering Performance Engineer at Egbin Power PLC
The minimal prerequisites for the position are:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, instrumentation, or mechanical engineering.
- A minimum of six years of experience in power utilities, hydrocarbon exploration and production, or any asset-intensive business, with five of those years spent in risk and reliability engineering.
- Knowledge of risk and reliability management (RRIM)
- Independent certification/training in Risk and Reliability Engineering from an accredited authority, such as CMRP, IRM, etc.
- Knowledge in any two of the following areas: maintenance, operation, design engineering, asset integrity, or technical assurance.

- Â Conversant with standard business suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Â Awareness of in-house tools, such as Maximo.
