About The ALX Africa Learner Hub Community Engagement Intern
We are seeking a Learner Hub Coordinator Intern who is proactive, organized, and enthusiastic to join our team. This position is well-suited for an individual who is enthusiastic about event coordination, learner support, and community engagement.
The Learner Hub Coordinator Intern will be accountable for the seamless operation of the learner hub, the cultivation of a strong sense of collaboration and belonging among learners, and the improvement of both physical and virtual community engagement.

Responsibilities
Learner Support and Hub Operations
- Ensure that the learner hub is a well-organized, resourceful, and welcoming space by supervising its daily operations.
- Provide learners with assistance with hub facilities, address inquiries, and offer advice on available resources.
- Ensure that the hub schedule is maintained and managed in a manner that is consistent with the requirements of the learners and maximizes the use of available space.
- Guarantee that learning resources, apparatus, and community resources are easily accessible.
- Collect feedback from learners to enhance the hub experience and escalate significant issues to management.
- Be prepared to address emergencies or unforeseen circumstances in the center and serve as the primary point of contact for learners.
Events and Community Engagement
- Assist in the creation and implementation of learner engagement strategies that enhance engagement and interaction in both physical and virtual environments.
- Assist in the organization, coordination, and execution of community events, including workshops, game evenings, networking sessions, mentorship meetups, and study groups.
- Encourage peer mentorship and collaboration by identifying and empowering learner champions and ambassadors.
- To guarantee that community engagement strategies continue to be innovative and effective, it is crucial to remain informed about industry trends and learner requirements.
- Ensure that all learners, including underrepresented groups, feel represented and supported by driving inclusive initiatives.
Management of Virtual Communities
- Develop a virtual learning community that is inclusive and positive through the use of communication platforms and community.
- Disseminate pertinent announcements, learning resources, and updates to maintain learners’ interest.
- Moderate discussions to guarantee that they are professional, productive, and free of inappropriate content or spam.
- Offer virtual assistance to students, assisting them in the navigation of their educational voyage and facilitating their access to essential resources.
- Monitor community engagement metrics to evaluate online participation and devise strategies for enhancement.
Feedback Collection and Communication
- Formulate and execute communication strategies to increase learner engagement through a variety of platforms.
- Work in conjunction with the content team to generate and disseminate top-tier content, such as blog posts, newsletters, and event highlights.
- In order to enhance hub activities, gather learner feedback through surveys, polling, and direct interactions.
- Facilitate effective communication among ALX staff, coordinators, and learners by serving as a liaison between various stakeholders.
- Provide monthly reports on the efficacy of the hub, learner engagement, and participation rates.

Essential
- A bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, education, or a related subject.
- The ability to handle student issues effectively, de-escalate confrontations, and deliver effective solutions.
- The ability to work autonomously, accept responsibility for initiatives, and think imaginatively about learner engagement tactics.
- A strong interest in education, community building, and peer mentoring.
- To handle hub operations and event coordination, you must have strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in managing virtual communities, such as moderating comments and sharing updates via communication platforms.
Preferable
- Previous experience in student leadership, community participation, event planning, or customer service.
- Expertise in WhatsApp, social media, online communities, and virtual collaboration technologies.
- Experience organizing and carrying out community events, networking meetings, and mentorship programs.
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices for learner engagement and community building.
