The Position:
You will be the technical backbone of our network expansion installing, commissioning and servicing active equipment on self-build and leased fibre links. In addition to technical execution, you’ll be a significant player in subscriber growth and network reliability at the highest standards.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Install & Commissioning: Install fiber cables on access and core routes using best practices; install, configure and commission headends.
- Drive Growth: Drive subscriber activations in estates and enterprises across Lagos and other locations as assigned.
- Troubleshoot & Maintain: Rapidly deploy corrective maintenance to repair fiber breaks and execute preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Test & Validate: Commission fiber spans and end to end circuits with OTDR and OLTS equipment.
- Document & Plan Capture as-built documentation Support network auditing, record management and overall fibre network planning.
- Work with: Collaborate with Operations, Project Managers, Enterprise account managers, and third-party vendors to ensure smooth delivery of deployment plans.
- Stay Current. Attend industry events and partner meetings to learn about new opportunities and maintain strategic partnerships.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in the telecom business with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in fiber installation and maintenance.
- Education: Diploma (or comparable work experience) in a technical discipline.
- Technical Expertise: OTDR, OLTS, fiber kinds, splicing, installation. Strong understanding of ducts, fiber build techniques, splice enclosures, patch panels, OSP, ISP.
- Digital Skills: Experience with Google Earth, QGIS, and OSS systems; proficient in B/OSS tools for proper record-keeping.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem solving and client facing skills. Must be able to communicate technical difficulties in a succinct manner to non-technical stakeholders.
- Mindset: sales driven, collaborative, analytical and passionately detail oriented. Integrity and strong ethical standards are not negotiable.
