About The Role
As an Operations Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution and optimization of operational processes to support ALX’s mission and community impact.
With a focus on our growing network of learners, founders, and 100,000 alumni across Nigeria—50,000 of whom live in Lagos—you will provide the analytical backbone to drive efficiency, scalability, and strategic alignment in our operations.
Responsibilities of Hub Operations Fellow at ALX Africa
Operational Process Development and Optimization:
- Create, build, and refine operational workflows and playbooks to improve efficiency and line with company goals.
- Create and implement systems and processes that enable the active participation of alumni aged 18-34, facilitating their professional development and entrepreneurial endeavors.
- Identify process bottlenecks and provide ways to increase operational efficiency.
- Ensure that all operational actions are consistent with ALX’s mission and community objectives.
- Provide leadership with specific data and insights on operational efficiency and effect, which will help guide future strategies.
Facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Monitor and analyze key operational and community engagement indicators to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Create dashboards and reports that track alumni engagement, program impact, and operational KPIs.
- Use data insights to guide decision-making and strategic planning throughout the organization.
- Collect and analyze feedback from surveys, interviews, and direct observations to help guide community development projects.
- Transform feedback into actionable insights so that alumni requirements and expectations are continually met or surpassed.
Communication and Stakeholder Coordination:
- Act as a link between community teams and internal stakeholders to ensure operational goals are aligned and the message is consistent.
- Provide important stakeholders with regular updates on operational progress and alumni engagement indicators.
- Oversee the integration and use of digital tools and platforms to improve operations and alumni interaction.
- Support the moderation and management of member-facing portals to ensure timely replies and updates.
Market insights and brand amplification:
- Collaborate with marketing and communications departments to establish consistent brand voice and image.
- Contribute to the creation of community-focused programs and projects that appeal to alumni.
- Manage virtual engagement initiatives such as email campaigns, newsletters, and portal moderation.
Requirements for Hub Operations Fellow at ALX Africa
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, or another analytical area. An MBA or advanced professional degree is advantageous.
- Relevant expertise: At least 6 years of relevant industry expertise in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics functions, preferably in a rapidly developing startup or consulting firm.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities, as well as the ability to efficiently integrate complex information and give practical insights.
- Data Analysis Proficiency: Proficient in SQL and has worked with huge data sets and relational databases. Knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel, Tableau, SQL, and other similar platforms. Experience with NoSQL databases, Python, R programming, or statistical and experimental design is advantageous.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Superior verbal and written communication skills are required to present complicated information to multiple stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Presentation Skills: Proven ability to create compelling and visually appealing slide decks utilizing presentation software (such as Google Slides, Prezi, PowerPoint, and Keynote).
- Project Management Experience: Proven ability to manage strategic projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure timely and successful project completion. Familiarity with project management approaches and technologies (such as Asana, Trello, and Microsoft Project).
- Technical proficiency includes knowledge of Google Suite as well as other essential applications and tools for data analysis, project management, and business operations. Tech-savvy, able to swiftly learn and adapt to new technology.
- Data Visualization: Understanding of data visualization strategies and tools for creating meaningful and powerful reports and dashboards.
- Interpersonal and professional skills: Ability to establish and maintain connections with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to collaborate with a variety of teams and individuals.
- Professionalism and Confidentiality: Prior experience protecting confidentiality in previous employment. High level of professionalism and the ability to handle sensitive and secret material discreetly.
- Flexibility & Adaptability: The ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic setting with shifting priorities. Willingness to take on new challenges and duties as they emerge.
- Process improvement experience includes finding inefficiencies, offering solutions, and leading process improvement activities. Familiarity with continuous improvement approaches such as Lean or Six Sigma is advantageous.
- Administrative Skills: Ability to manage administrative activities such as scheduling, email management, and document preparation. Capable of providing meeting support, such as taking notes and following up on action items.
- Research and Data Collection: Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze data to aid decision-making processes. Capability to perform market research, compare best practices, and make strategic recommendations.
