Job Overview
We are searching for a detail-oriented Staff Verification Specialist to join our team in Ikeja. In this capacity you will be responsible for completing background checks and confirming credentials and personal details of prospective workers, ensuring that new hires match the standards of the organization.
You will play a key role in checking job history, addresses, criminal records and educational qualifications to support the recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify academic qualifications and certifications.
- Conduct comprehensive background checks, including identity verification, address verification, criminal records, and employment history.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements during the verification process.
- Liaise with candidates, references, previous employers, and educational institutions for verification purposes.
- Stay updated on industry standards and legal regulations regarding background checks.
- Provide detailed reports to HR and management on verification outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all verification results and flag discrepancies when needed.
- Handle candidate inquiries and resolve verification discrepancies professionally.
Required Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and background screening software.
- In-depth knowledge of background check processes and legal requirements for employment verification.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in background verification, HR compliance, or similar roles.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with internal teams and external contacts.
