Role Purpose
- To support the implementation of WAEP’s environmental, health, and safety requirements across office, field, and offshore operations.
- This role ensures regulatory compliance, effective environmental protection, safe work practices, and continuous improvement in HSSE performance.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Environmental and safety compliance performance
- Closure rate of HSSE findings and corrective actions
- Incident and near-miss performance
- Timeliness and accuracy of environmental reporting
- Inspection and monitoring completion rate
- Emergency preparedness and audit performance
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor environmental and safety programmes, procedures, and controls across assigned operations.
- Conduct workplace inspections, environmental monitoring, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
- Support Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), toolbox talks, SIMOPS, and other operational safety processes.
- Monitor waste management, spill prevention, emissions, effluent, and other environmental performance requirements.
- Identify unsafe acts, conditions, and environmental non-conformities and track corrective actions to closure.
- Support incident, near-miss, and environmental event investigations, root-cause analysis, and lessons learned.
- Maintain HSSE records, environmental data, regulatory registers, and performance reports.
- Support emergency preparedness, drills, spill-response readiness, and field response activities.
- Interface with operations, contractors, and relevant stakeholders to promote compliance with Company HSSE standards.
- Support regulatory inspections, audits, and implementation of applicable Nigerian environmental and upstream requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree/HND in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8-12 years’ relevant environmental/HSE experience, preferably within upstream oil and gas operations.
- Relevant HSE/environmental professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ISPON, or equivalent are strongly preferred.
