About United Nigeria Airlines
United Nigeria Airlines is a 100% Nigerian company formed under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990 with the Corporate Affairs Commission to engage in the business of commercial air transportation under the trade name United Nigeria.
The airline was established in 2020 and was soon granted an Air Operator’s Certificate by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and launched operations on February 12, 2021 with a route from Lagos to Enugu as its debut flight. That symbolic take-off has today blossomed into a burgeoning aviation business set to change Nigeria’s status in regional air transport.
Based in Enugu, the airline serves internal routes to 16 Nigerian states with a fleet of 10 aircraft. United Nigeria Airlines has been granted International Air Transport Association (IATA) membership and IOSA certification within two years of operations. The airline, with IATA code U5 and ICAO code UNA, is committed to providing a pleasant travel experience to its passengers.
Summary of the Job
We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Assistant to support the company’s payroll operation.
The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Payroll Accountant and assist in ensuring accurate, timely and compliant payroll processing in line with corporate policy and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities

| 1 | Assist in the preparation and processing of monthly payroll under the guidance of the Payroll Accountant |
| 2 | Maintain and update employee payroll records, including salaries, allowances, deductions, and benefits |
| 3 | Support the computation of statutory deductions such as PAYE, WHTax, pension, NSITF, ITF, and other applicable contributions |
| 4 | Assist in reconciling payroll data and resolving payroll-related discrepancies |
| 5 | Prepare payroll schedules and supporting documentation for review by the Payroll Accountant |
| 6 | Respond to basic payroll queries from employees and escalate complex issues to the Payroll Accountant |
| 7 | Ensure payroll information is treated with confidentiality and accuracy |
| 8 | Support compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant labour and tax regulations |
| 9 | Assist during payroll audits and provide required documentation when needed |
Experience & Qualifications
Educational Requirement
- HND / B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline
Experience
- 1 – 2 years experience in payroll or accounting support roles will be an advantage
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of payroll processes, statutory deductions, and labour regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with payroll software will be an added advantage
