Job Role
- We are seeking a highly motivated and detail – oriented Solar Engineer who will be responsible for designing, installing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining solar PV and Mini – Grid systems for residential, commercial, industrial, and community – based projects.
- The role also includes supervising installers and technicians on – site to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
- Design and develop solar PV and Mini-Grid systems based on project requirements
- Conduct site surveys, load assessments, and technical feasibility studies
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and system specifications
- Perform system sizing, load analysis, and energy yield calculations
Project Execution & Supervision
- Supervise installers, electricians, and technicians during project execution
- Ensure proper installation, wiring, mounting, and commissioning of solar and Mini-Grid systems
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion within approved standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical faults on solar and electrical systems
Stakeholder Engagement
- Support business development teams with technical proposals and project costing where required
- Attend project meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors
- Explain system operations and maintenance procedures to customers
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients during and after project implementation
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal teams on project activities
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, electrical standards, and quality requirements
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and project updates
- Support maintenance, performance monitoring, and optimization of installed systems
- Ensure effective management of tools, materials, and installation resources
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Successful completion of solar projects within timeline and budget
- Effective supervision and productivity of installation teams
- Installation quality and system efficiency performance
- Client satisfaction and project delivery quality
- Reduction in installation errors and technical downtime
- Compliance with HSE standards
Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Engineering, solar project development, or renewable energy projects
- Experience with feasibility studies and site assessments
- Strong understanding of PV system design, grid connection, and project lifecycle
Certifications (Added Advantage)
- HSE Level 1, 2, or 3 certification
- Certified Solar PV Installer certification
- COREN membership or relevant engineering certification
- Renewable energy or electrical safety certifications are an added advantage
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in solar design and simulation tools: PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems, inverters, batteries, and electrical systems
- Understanding of energy modeling and load calculations
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (IEC, NEC, local codes)
