Job Summary

Help to reduce information security (IS) incidents by constantly monitoring and recognizing threats to end-user applications, networks, systems, and other access points to other assets. 

Key Responsibilities for Analyst, Security Monitoring at IHS Towers

• Ensure intelligent reporting and fine-tuning of file integrity monitor, NAC, firewall, and SOC rules.
• Ensure that enough trails are kept, retained, and retrievable for forensic studies and investigations.
• Implement logging policies across multiple levels of systems and enterprise platforms.
• Assist in developing intelligent alerts based on risk scenarios.
• Implement and maintain log retention policies across many platforms and systems.
• Examine logs/alerts (closed-opened) and reports from all in-place security and infrastructure devices.
• Manage direct scheduling and ad hoc security and compliance reporting.
• Assist in organizing compliance initiatives throughout the organization.
• Participate in the development of enterprise security policies, standards, and baselines.
• Keep up to date on new, amended, or improved security solutions, processes, and the emergence of new threats and attack vectors.
• Keep up with SOC regulatory standards.
• Participate in the roll-out of tested security patches and updates.
• Perform security tool selection, piloting, and deployment.
• Maintain the SOC awareness program.
• Communicate SOC action plans and security bulletins.
• Identify, investigate, and address security breaches discovered by deployed security systems.
• Make proposals for projects that will improve security and provide the best level of service.
• Perform any other activities and responsibilities assigned by the Senior Specialist, Security & Risk Monitoring.

Qualifications for Analyst, Security Monitoring at IHS Towers

• Bachelor’s and/or advanced degrees in computer science or a similar field.
• +2-3 years of relevant experience in information security or other information risk/control/audit jobs, including at least one year of security monitoring and solution deployment.
• Experienced in monitoring and connecting incidents and events reported by various security solutions.
• Understanding of SOX security monitoring obligations and reporting.
• Demonstrate understanding of security systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, and content filtering.
• Demonstrate understanding of network security and networking technology, as well as systems, security, and network monitoring software.
• Demonstrate understanding of web-related technologies (web applications, web services, service-oriented architectures) and network/web-related protocols.
• Show understanding of security monitoring frameworks or standards.
• Understand the most recent security ideas, methodologies, and protocols.
