Job Role
- The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out abrasive blasting, surface cleaning, and preparation activities to ensure surfaces meet required standards before coating application while maintaining compliance with safety and quality requirements.
- A reputable Oil & Gas Construction, Fabrication, and Facilities Development company is seeking experienced professionals to join its project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate blasting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Operate blasting and preparation equipment safely.
- Follow HSE procedures, permit-to-work systems, and toolbox talk instructions.
- Ensure surfaces are properly cleaned and prepared prior to coating application.
- Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure safe operation.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 8501, SSPC, and project specifications.
- Assist coating teams in preparation of work areas and containment setups.
- Perform abrasive blasting and mechanical surface preparation.
- Maintain equipment and work areas.
- Perform mechanical cleaning, power tool cleaning, and surface profiling.
- Carry out abrasive blasting and surface preparation activities as per specifications.
- Assist coating teams during project execution.
- Ensure required surface cleanliness and profile are achieved.
- Report unsafe conditions and support continuous improvement on site.
- Clean and prepare surfaces for coating applications.
- Follow permit-to-work and HSE procedures.
Requirements & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in surface preparation activities within oil and gas projects.
- OND, Trade Test Certificate, or equivalent vocational qualification.
Core Competence:
- Strong adherence to safety procedures (HSSE compliance)
- Physical stamina and operational efficiency
- Teamwork and reliability in industrial settings
- Awareness of quality standards in coating preparation.
- Technical skill in surface cleaning and preparation
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately
