We are currently in search of a Mechanic Workshop Supervisor who is both highly skilled and experienced to assume responsibility for our workshop operations in Ibadan.
The Role
- You will serve as the foundation of our maintenance operations in your capacity as the Mechanic Workshop Supervisor.
- You will be responsible for the daily operations of the workshop, leading a team of technicians and mechanics, and guaranteeing the optimal performance, safety, and roadworthiness of our fleet of vehicles and trailers.
- This is a leadership position that requires a hands-on professional who can effectively reconcile technical proficiency with strong managerial abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations Management: Supervise and coordinate all daily workshop activities, including maintenance, servicing, troubleshooting, and major repairs of vehicles and trailers.
- Team Leadership: Lead, assign tasks to, and monitor the performance of workshop technicians and mechanics to ensure high standards of workmanship.
- Fleet Reliability: Ensure all vehicles and trailers are maintained in safe, roadworthy condition and ready for deployment.
- Fault Diagnosis: Accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and ensure timely, effective repairs.
- Inventory & Equipment: Oversee the management of workshop tools, equipment, spare parts inventory, and accurate maintenance records.
- Preventive Maintenance: Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules to significantly minimize vehicle downtime.
- Compliance & Safety: Enforce strict compliance with safety standards, workshop procedures, and company policies.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with management on workshop needs, major repairs, and resource requirements, providing regular performance reports.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in a mechanic workshop leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Sector Knowledge: Proven, mandatory experience working with both vehicles and trailers.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Certification: A technical qualification or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field is a strong added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Technical Mastery: Strong mechanical and vehicle maintenance knowledge (engines, gearboxes, hydraulics, electrical systems, and trailer axles/brakes).
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of technicians.
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional diagnostic, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Organization: Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple workshop activities simultaneously.
